Openwave optimising Telus mobile data traffic

6 Mar 2013

Canada’s Telus has selected Openwave Mobility’s Media Optimizer, a video and web traffic optimisation solution that manages congestion down to individual subscriber level. Telus will also implement Web Optimizer, a solution that uses compression, caching and transcoding techniques on websites and images to increase data transfer rates over wireless data networks while decreasing the amount of traffic flowing over the network. Jerome Birot, director of

technology strategy at Telus, said that in meeting the growing demand for mobile video capability, the Openwave solution ‘enables us to manage any video type in real-time based on network conditions, so our customers get a more personal experience when consuming media on our mobile network.’
