Indonesia’s XL Axiata has signed a partnership agreement with Ericsson of Sweden to strengthen its machine-to-machine (M2M) business in the country. The vendor will provide XL Axiata with M2M connectivity delivered as a service, giving the cellco improved flexibility in developing innovative M2M products for enterprise users. As part of the deal, Ericsson will utilise its Device Connection Platform (DCP) to deploy, manage, and monetise myriad M2M and consumer electronics devices for XL which currently offers six types of service and boasts more than 125,000 M2M subscribers. The carrier’s current offerings include smart metering and point of sales solutions, fleet management, logistics and delivery, personal tracking and mobile surveillance.
