Vodafone Netherlands reports 3.5% dip in third-quarter sales

7 Feb 2013

Vodafone Netherlands has reported its preliminary financial results for its fiscal third-quarter ended 31 December 2012, showing that revenue fell 3.5% year-on-year to EUR461 million (USD609 million). Telecompaper quotes the cellco as saying that its performance was dragged down by a reduction in roaming revenue and a fall in call usage – due to the prevailing difficult economic conditions in the country. However on a more positive note, the carrier said it had consolidated its position in the mobile market, with a ‘steady’ 5.343 million connections by the year end, up 42,000 quarter-on-quarter.

On 10 January this year Vodafone Netherlands confirmed plans to cut its operational expenses this year, including a cut in personnel costs. This translates into planned redundancies of 77 members of its 3,200 workforce in the country.
