Nordic telecoms group TeliaSonera has posted an 8.1% rise in annual net income to SEK19.886 billion (USD3.125 billion) in 2012, up from SEK18.388 billion in 2011. Consolidated annual net revenues rose slightly to SEK104.898 billion, from SEK104.804 billion the previous year, while in local currencies and excluding acquisitions the group calculated a revenue increase of 1.2%. EBITDA excluding non-recurring items was down by 3.1% in 2012, to SEK36.059 billion. In the group’s European mobile division, net sales in local currencies and excluding acquisitions increased by 1.3%, although in reported currency, net sales decreased 1.5% to SEK13.080 billion. In the European broadband/fixed line division, net sales in local currencies and excluding acquisitions decreased 2.7%, and in reported currency, net sales decreased 4.1% to SEK9.039 billion. In TeliaSonera’s Eurasia mobile division, net sales in local currencies and excluding acquisitions increased 16.3%, while in reported currency terms the figure climbed 10.9% to SEK5.223 billion in 2012 from SEK4.708 billion in 2011.
The total number of subscriptions across the TeliaSonera group rose by 14.8 million from the end of the fourth quarter of 2011 to 183.0 million at the end of December 2012. In the consolidated operations the number of subscriptions increased by 8.4 million to 71.2 million. In associated companies, the number of subscriptions increased by 6.4 million to 111.8 million.
In its forecast for the year ahead, the Stockholm-based group said that its EBITDA margin, excluding non-recurring items, is expected to increase ‘slightly’ compared to 2012, when it stood at 34.4%.
