Kordia begins installation for O3b’s Cook Islands service

21 Jan 2013

New Zealand-owned systems integrator Kordia Solutions has been assigned to install high speed satellite internet provider O3b’s Tier-1 terminal in Rarotonga for Telecom Cook Islands (TCI). TCI will utilise O3b’s Ka-band capacity and fully-managed trunking solution, O3bTrunk, to provide businesses, residents and tourists with internet access five times faster than current broadband offerings across the Cook Islands. TCI has also signed up high speed, low-latency O3bTrunk service for four other islands using the O3b Tier-2 terminals. As a result, each island will receive more than 20 times the bandwidth they enjoy today, a press release stated. Kordia’s technical engineering teams are currently undergoing training for the installation, commissioning and maintenance of all varieties of Tier-1 and Tier-2 O3b terminals.
