The Bangkok Post reports that all domestic mobile phone calls made from 1 January are subject to a maximum rate of THB0.99 (USD0.03) per minute. The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) initially planned to impose the limit from 4 April 2012, but subsequently allowed operators who have prior contracts to carry on until the contracts end, or at the latest 31 December 2012. ‘Operators can still offer promotion packages, but when it is calculated per minute, it must not exceed the capped rate,’ said NBTC commissioner Pravit Leesatapornwongsa.
