Orange Switzerland has signed a five-year managed services agreement with Swedish equipment supplier Ericsson, the cellco announced in a statement. The deal covers all of Orange’s operations in Switzerland, including network management, field maintenance and spare parts management. Commenting on the partnership, Johan Andsjo, CEO of Orange Switzerland added: ‘As a purely mobile communications provider, the quality of our mobile network is a decisive factor for us. That’s why we are delighted to have chosen Ericsson, the world leader in managed services, as our partner. As a result, we can continue moving ahead with our commitment to offering customers a network that leads the way in terms of quality’.
TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that Orange Switzerland was sold by former owners France Telecom-Orange (FT-Orange) to Matterhorn Mobile, a company indirectly owned by private equity firm Apax Partners in February 2012 for CHF2 billion (USD2.21 billion). Matterhorn has opted to retain the Orange moniker for the moment, and continues to pay brand fees to FT-Orange.
