Delays at Telekom Srbija hold up FNP launch

4 Dec 2012

Serbian regulator the Republic Agency for Electronic Communications (Ratel) has announced that the implementation of fixed number portability (FNP) will be delayed indefinitely. Ratel received notice from fixed line incumbent Telekom Srbija that the operator had run into ‘complex administrative and technical issues’ preventing it from being able to determine exactly when it will be ready to implement the service. Nevertheless, the telco added that it was still taking all measures to implement FNP as soon as possible. In light of the delays at Telekom Srbija, Ratel has delayed the launch of FNP, which had been previously scheduled for 1 December, but has not yet set a new date for the activation of the service.
