Never mind the Balkans: Turkcell follows up GloBul bid with approach for BH Telecom

28 Nov 2012

Less than a week after lodging a formal bid for Cosmo Bulgaria (GloBul), Turkcell is said to be preparing an offer for Bosnia-Herzegovina’s BH Telecom, Business New Europe reports. The development comes as the Turkish mobile giant explores merger and acquisition opportunities to help extend its reach across the Balkans region.

Last week, Turkcell submitted a non-binding offer for a 100% stake in GloBul, after losing out in the summer in its pursuit of the Bulgarian cellco’s domestic rival Vivacom. TeleGeography notes that the Turkish company is also one of five bidders to enter the final round of bidding for a 75% stake in incumbent telco Post and Telecommunications Kosovo (PTK), a process which is now scheduled to conclude on 15 January.
