Orange launches LTE in four cities

23 Nov 2012

Orange France has announced the launch of commercial services over its Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. Initially, corporate customers in four cities – Lyon, Nantes, Lille and Marseille – will be able to access the new service. The cellco then plans to unveil a range of consumer tariffs and devices compatible with both HSPA+ and LTE in February 2013, ahead of expanding coverage to ten cities in April. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Orange has been running a pilot LTE network for testing purposes in Marseille since June 2012. At an event in Paris this week, the company also revealed that its HSPA+ coverage will reach 60% of the population by the end of 2012.
