Cellcos challenge ban on ‘vulgar’ tariffs

23 Nov 2012

The Express Tribune writes that the Pakistan’s cellcos have challenged the regulator’s decision to ban tariffs offering cheap late-night calls in the Islamabad High Court. As reported by CommsUpdate yesterday, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had issued a ban on the packages, on the basis that the tariffs encouraged vulgar behaviour not in keeping with the nation’s moral values. A spokesperson for Ufone made a statement that no further comments could be made whilst the matter was before the court.
