T-Mobile’s Czech subsidiary has extended service coverage of its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile network to the city of Mlada Boleslav. Claiming to cover the entire city, T-Mobile’s trial launch comes four months after it inaugurated LTE in the capital Prague. The 4G network offers a maximum 75Mbps/25Mbps (downlink/uplink) service and is being offered free for the duration of the six-month trial. T-Mobile’s LTE network in Mlada Boleslav comprises 19 transmitters at various locations and uses 2×10MHz in the 1800MHz band. In a press release, T-Mobile’s technology director Frank Meywerk said: ‘If we get the appropriate spectrum [in the forthcoming] auction, we are ready to start building LTE networks in 2013’.
