Egyptian-backed cellco Mobilink has inked a five-year agreement with China’s Huawei and French-US vendor Alcatel-Lucent to deploy and maintain a next generation mobile network and supporting services, reports Reuters. Mobilink’s parent company Orascom Telecom said that the improved network would allow the operator to boost its efficiency and reduce operating costs. Further, the upgrade would allow the cellco to offer 3G services when such licences are made available by the government.
