MTS Ukraine completes fibre capacity expansion

9 Nov 2012

MTS Ukraine has completed a project to modernise its transmission network with DWDM technology, in nodes covering Kharkiv, Donetsk, Simferopol and Dunaevcy (Khmelnitsky region), increasing capacity to 100Gbps. The upgrades also support mobile third- and fourth-generation evolutions, to facilitate a rapid transition to these technologies in the future. MTS also increased the capacity of the network at border crossings with international partners, while preparations have begun to introduce a new intelligent system on the DWDM transport network to control optical connections and routes with WSON (Wavelength Switched Optical Network) technology. Upgrades have been conducted in cooperation with Huawei, PrioCom and Sitronics IT.
