Czech fixed and mobile operator Telefonica O2 CR has signed an agreement with the Czech division of publishing house Ringier Axel Springer to allow the latter to become the first mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in the country. Under the deal, Ringier Axel Springer will create a 2G (GSM) MVNO business in the Republic under the brand name BLESKmobil. 4-traders.com reports that the new service will go live from 7 November offering pay-as-you-go plans with low-cost voice calls and SMS, available from more than 6,000 newsagents across the country. The publishing group’s CEO Libuse Smuclerova said of the deal: ‘the company is proud to become the first virtual operator in the Czech Republic. We will be offering simple and cheap mobile services via the O2 mobile network.’
It is understood the start-up’s simple tariff structure will include voice calls starting at CZK2.50 (USD0.129) per minute and SMS at CZK1.50 each. The same rates apply for peak and off-peak calls/texts.
