MeTV launches over TOT network

22 Oct 2012

A new commercial IPTV service has been launched in Thailand under the ‘MeTV’ banner, over the network of state-owned telco TOT. MeTV is provided by iTV Media, a part-owned subsidiary of Chinese broadband technology solutions provider UTStarcom, while other partners in the launch include Thai multimedia company GMM Grammy Public and entertainment content publisher RS. MeTV gives subscribers access to global and domestic channels on multiple screens including TV, PC, tablets and smartphones along with interactive TV services such as VoD and cloud based time-shift programmes. The partners intend to roll out the IPTV service ‘nationwide’ over TOT’s fixed network. William Wong, UTStarcom’s CEO, said: ‘The commercial deployment of MeTV in Thailand is a critical milestone in iTV Media´s growth and is an excellent example of how its IPTV service can be leveraged by telecommunications companies around the world to enhance user experience and subscriber loyalty by providing a range of services that customers are increasingly demanding.’
