Sweden’s largest cableco Com Hem has reported that its total number of fixed broadband subscribers increased moderately in the twelve months ended 30 June 2012, when it had 545,000 cable modem internet customers, up from 537,000 at mid-2011. However, all other segments saw a year-on-year decrease in revenue generating units (RGUs) at the end of the second quarter, as fixed telephony subscribers fell to 360,000 (374,000) and digital TV households stood at 621,000 (624,000), while those taking a triple-play video, voice and web package decreased to 276,000 at end-June 2012 from 281,000 a year earlier. Financially, though, results improved, as EBITDA climbed 2% year-on-year in April-June 2012 to SEK541 million (USD82 million) on revenues which also grew by 2% to SEK1.148 billion, and the company upped its level of CAPEX investment from SEK152 million in Q2 2011 to a quarterly spend of SEK191 million a year later.
