Peru’s Agency for the Promotion of Private Investment (ProInversion) has announced plans to auction spectrum for 4G services in the first half of next year. TeleSemana reports that the agency has been tasked with auctioning frequencies in the 1710MHz-1770MHz and 2110MHz-2170MHz bands to be used for high speed wireless internet services. ProInversion’s head of telecommunications projects, Jesus Guillen added that the body would be looking to select a company to roll out the planned national fibre-optic backbone, but was waiting for the nod from the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC).
