Next phase in deployment of fibre-optic links expected soon

6 Aug 2012

Zimbabwean telco TelOne says that it expects to begin work soon on the deployment of fibre-optic links from Bulawayo to Beitbridge and from Bulawayo to Victoria Falls, reports AllAfrica. The telco rolled out fibre-optic connectivity between Mutare to Harare in 2010, and completed the Harare to Bulawayo route in May 2012. TelOne is currently the only major Zimbabwean company which has equity in the East African Cable System (EASSy), through WIOCC, a firm partly owned by a consortium of 14 African telecoms operators. TelOne accesses EASSy and SEACOM via Mozambique (TDM) and South Africa (InfraCo).
