Telenor completes HSPA+ upgrade

23 Jul 2012

Norwegian-backed cellco Telenor Serbia has completed upgrade work on its 3G network, more than a month ahead of schedule. The provider upgraded all of its 3G base stations – covering around 70% of the nation’s territory – to Dual Carrier HSPA+ (DC-HSPA+), allowing customers access to theoretical download speeds of up to 42Mbps. In its press release, the cellco said that the work was carried out in response to high demand for smart devices. As noted by TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, at the end of March 2012 Telenor claimed a 29.8% share of the Serbian wireless market with 3.1 million subscribers.
