BT Ireland selects Alca-Lu IP portfolio

13 Jul 2012

BT Ireland has selected French-US equipment maker Alcatel-Lucent to supply it with its IP portfolio, including the Alca-Lu 7750 Service Router and 5620 Service Aware Manager. The addition of the IP portfolio will help strengthen its recently launched ‘IP Connect Ireland’ service, as part of its extensive network infrastructure in the Republic. The carrier is already using Alca-Lu’s Ethernet platform for cost-effective service delivery, and the addition of IP will enable it to provide both carrier-class Ethernet and IP VPN services to its customers in Ireland.

Commenting on the announcement, BT Ireland’s head of marketing, product and strategy, Colm McVeigh, said: ‘Irish business and public sector organisations are facing very significant business challenges in a rapidly evolving world. Our BT IP Connect service, together with the BT Ethernet Connect portfolio, add intelligence and extensive capabilities to a customer’s network ensuring optimum and cost efficient performance while enabling a business to streamline and accelerate their network.’
