18 Jun 2012

France Telecom-Orange has announced that its mobile payment service Orange Money has now amassed four million customers across Orange operations in Africa and the Middle East. The service, which was first launched in Cote d’Ivoire in December 2008, has just been introduced in Jordan and Mauritius, taking the total number of active markets to ten. Orange Money is available to 14% of all Orange customers across these ten markets, the operator says. Marc Rennard, Orange’s Executive Director for AMEA operations, commented: ‘Orange Money plays an important role in driving growth in our activities in emerging markets, allowing us to contribute to the economic and social development of these countries, while improving our customers’ loyalty.’
