IBW taps PeerApp to accelerate content delivery, reduce network congestion

2 May 2012

Pan-Central American broadband provider IBW, which offers cable and WiMAX connectivity to residential and business customers in Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Costa Rica, has selected US-based PeerApp to provide its ‘UltraBand’ transparent caching platform across its operational footprint. UltraBand will help IBW deliver internet content, including video and multimedia, with improved quality, while reducing associated network congestion and costs. The platform reduces network load by automatically detecting popular content and storing and delivering it from the network edge. Paul Ives Choiseul, chief technical officer at IBW, commented: ‘As consumer demand for video and other rich media content grow, transparent caching has become an integral part of our strategy to provide the best possible end-user quality and control network costs.’
