Ukrainian telco Datagroup has presented its results for full-year 2011, showing that its consolidated net profit increased from UAH30.3 million (USD3.77 million) in 2010 to UAH39.4 million in 2011, on revenues that climbed from UAH406.8 million to UAH516.0 million, while FY2011 EBITDA reached UAH193.8 million, up from UAH167.5 million the previous year. Datagroup said that growth was driven by a deliberate strategy of investing in the development of its retail/consumer business, as opposed to its previous core operations in the corporate/wholesale sector, and this resulted in ‘retail’ business accounting for a 37% share of earnings in FY11. Proceeds from fixed telephony/internet and data transfer were roughly equal in the year, while the company claims to have a 36% share of the country’s corporate data transmission service market in terms of revenues, up from 27% the previous year, according to its own figures. At the end of 2011 it also reported a 137% year-on-year increase in residential fixed broadband subscribers to 150,000, whilst it said that this figure increased further to 160,000 at the end of Q1 2012, and the number of PSTN fixed telephony customers stood at 107,000.
