Umniah adds VoIP services

19 Apr 2012

Bahrain-backed telco Umniah Jordan has announced the addition of pre-paid IP telephony to its offerings. The new voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) service is provided as a free extra for subscribers to Umniah’s ‘Umax’ branded WiMAX packages, though the telco does charge a JOD10 (USD14.06) activation fee. VoIP can also be taken individually, in which case customers must pay for equipment if it is required, in addition to the activation fee. Umniah’s VoIP lines use the ‘06’ area code and include call waiting, caller ID and a fax service for no extra cost. Calls are charged on a per minute basis, and there are three denominations of top-ups; JOD5, JOD10 and JOD20.
