Kuwaiti cellular operator Viva has announced the launch of its 42.2Mbps HSPA+ mobile data network. Customers are now able to access download speeds of up to 42.2Mbps via a USB modem, with the company advertising a minimum guaranteed speed of 7.2Mbps. Prices start from KWD1 (USD3.58) and go up to KWD18 for Viva’s ‘Surf On and Internet Broadband’ package which offers pre-paid and post-paid customers unlimited internet access. Viva, which is the trading name of Kuwait Telecom Co, is backed by Saudi Telecom Company, and has recently passed the one million subscriber milestone, giving it a 19% share of the overall Kuwaiti wireless market, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database.
