The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) yesterday handed over 72 new gateway licences, of which there were 22 international gateway (IGW) licences, 21 interconnection exchange (ICX) licences and 29 international internet gateway (IIG) licences. According to Bangladesh’s The Daily Star newspaper, in total 82 such licences will be awarded, while 78 companies have so far deposited licence fees. The recipients will have to start operations with the next six months.
