Bangladesh’s Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications is considering a list of 85 applicants for international gateway and domestic interconnection exchange licences, down from an original lost of 153. BDNews24 reported that the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission has written a letter to the ministry urging it to keep the number of licences awarded low, so as not to risk damaging the market. The ministry reportedly selected a preliminary list of 25 firms for International Gateway (IGW), 21 for Interconnection Exchange (ICX) and 39 for International Internet Gateway (IIG) licences.
