Operators invited to test LTE using TOT’s spectrum

3 Jan 2012

Thai newspaper The Nation reports that state-run fixed line and 3G cellular operator TOT will accept more offers from companies and vendors wishing to test 4G LTE services. As reported by CommsUpdate in December, cellco AIS has already agreed to trial LTE using frequencies in the 2.3GHz and 1800MHz bands owned by TOT. True Move CEO Supachai Chearavanont recently stated that his company was also interested in testing 4G services. The offer to trial LTE using TOT’s frequencies is part of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission’s policy to allow operators to test 4G services for 90 days, with an option to extend for another 90 days. The report states that the regulator plans to reallocate part of TOT’s 2.3GHz spectrum in 2013 or 2014.
