Pan-Caribbean operator Digicel has announced year-on-year revenue growth of 16% for the six months ending 30 September 2011, earning USD1.24 billion across its 30 markets. Over the same period, EBITDA rose by 15% to USD524 million. The Jamaica-based group saw it subscriber base across all operations increase by 14% y-o-y to 11.1 million, with income from value added services (VAS) increasing 47% on the back of greater smartphone usage. The company released only one subscriber statistic, for Digicel Haiti, which it said added 830,000 new mobile user accounts in the first six months of its financial year to take its total to just under 3.4 million.
