Sunrise to launch IPTV in 2012

25 Nov 2011

Swiss telco Sunrise has announced plans to launch an IPTV service in early 2012. The telco, which currently offers triple-play services, began conducting consumer trials in October. Thus far, no details have been released regarding pricing or channels that will be made available. Sunrise plans to bundle IPTV into quad-play offerings, with the intention of attracting new customers and improving customer retention.

As noted by TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Sunrise is Switzerland’s third largest broadband provider by subscribers, with 366,000 broadband customers at the end of September 2011, behind US-backed Cablecom’s 535,400 and incumbent Swisscom’s 1.635 million.
