Vodafone Ireland reports subscriber growth

Irish operator Vodafone Ireland closed out September 2011 with a total of 2.22 million mobile users, thanks to a quarterly net gain of 17,000 connections, while its total customer base increased to 2.45 million. The cellco said average revenues per user (ARPU) decreased by 0.9% to EUR32.60 (USD44.90) in the third quarter, although minutes of use (MOU) per customer grew by 0.6% from the second quarter to 268 minutes. Vodafone Ireland also reported that its customers sent roughly twice the European average number of SMS texts in the period under review – with 220 messages sent per customer compared to the European average of 111. In total, Vodafone Ireland customers sent 1.46 billion SMS in the third quarter of this year, the cellco added.
