Sri Lanka Telecom quarterly profit up 3%

Fixed line operator Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), which includes mobile operator subsidiary Mobitel, has posted its headline financial results for the three and nine months ended 30 September 2011, reporting consolidated group net profit of LKR1.05 billion (USD10 million) in the quarter, up by 3% year-on-year. Revenue in July-September 2011 rose fractionally year-on-year to LKR12.6 billion, but three-month operating profit (EBIT) dropped by 15% to LKR1.39 billion. In 9M11 fixed network (including broadband internet) operations generated EBIT of LKR982 million, up by 21% in the same period of the previous year, although EBIT at Mobitel fell by 12% in the same period to LKR1.49 billion.
