Ukrainian telco Ukrtelecom plans to select a buyer for its 3G mobile network operations after 25 November 2011, reports The Kyiv Post citing the Interfax-Ukraine agency. Board chairman Heorhiy Dzekon said at a shareholders’ meeting on Tuesday: ‘We have completed the first round of receiving proposals from potential buyers, and have met with them. We’re waiting for the second round proposals from 22 November to 25 November. I think that the second round will be the last one, and afterwards we will make a decision.’ In September Ukrtelecom announced it was transferring all assets of its mobile business from its internal Utel division into a newly formed company, TriMob, for sale. According to Dzekon, Utel’s assets have not yet been transferred to TriMob, while the value of assets is UAH737 million (USD91 million). Meanwhile, the telco’s shareholders have approved its new business plan going forward, aiming to focus on converged broadband, pay-TV and IT services and lessen focus on traditional fixed line business, which has diminishing returns.
