KPN’s third-quarter results hit by voice revenue declines

25 Oct 2011

KPN has posted third-quarter revenues of EUR3.3 billion (USD4.6 million), down 3.4% year-on-year as social media and mobile applications such as Skype and WhatsApp weighed negatively on traditional voice revenue. Net income slipped 9.4% to EUR368 million, while EBITDA fell from EUR1.4 billion to EUR1.3 billion. The Dutch telco reaffirmed its guidance for the full year, saying that it forecasts 2011 EBITDA excluding restructuring costs to come in at more than EUR5.3 billion. The company also reiterated its 2012 guidance, despite the threat of increased competition domestically, especially from the cable firms Ziggo and UPC.
