ICE considers early LTE launch

13 Oct 2011

Costa Rica’s former wireless monopoly ICE Celular is considering deploying a Long Term Evolution (LTE) platform by the end of 2012, two years ahead of schedule. The state-owned cellco’s manager, Claudio Bermudez, said that the company was evaluating trends in the development of 4G technology, and that ICE might be ready for a commercial launch by the end of 2012. Earlier this year ICE announced that it was planning an LTE rollout for 2014. Bermudez did not supply any additional details regarding the possible early launch.
