CRC to issue BWA concession

13 Oct 2011

Bulgaria’s telecoms regulator the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) has announced that it intends to award a broadband wireless access (BWA) concession without setting a timeframe for the tender. The licence will allow the use of 40MHz of spectrum in the 3.5GHz band.

The announcement follows hot on the heels of CRC’s UMTS auction, which began earlier this month. As previously reported by CommsUpdate, the watchdog has invited bids of upwards of BGN49.5 million (USD34.7 million) for a single 15-year concession permitting the use of two 15MHz bands of spectrum in the 2GHz range.
