Manitoban full-service telco MTS Allstream is preparing to launch 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile broadband services over its own network next year. The announcement, coming six months after the regional operator’s launch of HSPA+ services, will provide mobile data download speeds up to five times faster than the 3.5G network, MTS claims. LTE will be installed in phases across Manitoba, said Kelvin Shepherd, president of MTS, adding that the data-only network will be best suited to densely populated urban centres.
