Bell Mobility and Virgin offer live mobile TV streaming from CTV

23 Sep 2011

Bell Mobility, and its subsidiary Virgin Mobile Canada, are to offer the CTV MOBILE service provided by sister company Bell Media. CTV MOBILE features up to 150 hours each week of live simulstream programming and allows subscribers to watch CTV and CTV Two programming in real time on the move. CTV, acquired by Bell’s parent group BCE last year, claims to be the only conventional broadcaster to offer live streaming of its lineup on mobile platforms at present. As reported by CommsUpdate yesterday, under a ruling by Canadian regulator the CRTC, integrated groups such as BCE must also offer their TV content line-ups to rivals, including mobile network operators and internet access providers, at reasonable terms.
