Ukrtelecom forms mobile company ‘TriMob’ ahead of spin-off

16 Sep 2011

Ukrainian incumbent telco Ukrtelecom has formed a separate company to hold all its 3G mobile network operating assets in advance of the planned spin-off and sale of its cellular operations, reports daily newspaper Delo.ua. The subscribers of the recently privatised PSTN operator’s integrated mobile division, Utel, will be transferred to the new legal entity, ‘TriMob’, once the company receives permission to use the appropriate numbering resources (expected at the beginning of October). Ukrtelecom’s Austrian owner Epic intends to finalise a plan to sell the mobile unit, which currently has 643,000 W-CDMA-based subscribers, by the end of this year.
