Kyivstar and regulator reach ‘mutual understanding’ on licence renewal

7 Sep 2011

Ukrainian mobile market leader Kyivstar has accepted terms from the telecoms regulator NCCR for renewing its GSM 900MHz and 1800MHz licences for total fees of UAH19 million (USD2.3 million), newspaper Delo.ua reports. In July the watchdog refused Kyivstar’s request to extend its licences, expiring on 25 October 2011, for a much lower fee, and had insisted on a full renewal of concessions instead. According to a statement, the NCCR and the cellco found ‘mutual understanding’ on the licensing issue at the end of last month.
