Boyugues Telecom says sales up, profits down

Bouygues Telecom has posted first-half revenue of EUR2.9 billion (USD4.2 billion) up 5% year-on-year. EBITDA slipped 9% however to EUR665 million, while net profit came in at EUR191 million, down 19% on the back of fierce competitive pressure. The company added 206,000 new mobile contract subscribers during the period, helping to increase its total wireless subscriber base to 11.187 million. Meanwhile, 215,000 new customers joined the operator’s rapidly growing broadband service; at 30 June Bouygues claimed 1.023 million broadband internet subscribers.
