Movistar launches HSPA+ in Quito

Telefonica’s Movistar Ecuador has launched commercial HSPA+ services enabling mobile broadband data speeds of up to 21Mbps (theoretical downlink maximum) in the country’s capital, Quito. The cellco is advertising maximum actual speeds of 10Mbps/2Mbps (download/upload) for wireless modem and smartphone users on the newly upgraded 3.5G network, which it refers to in its marketing as ‘4G’.
