HSPA+ service launched by Claro

19 Aug 2011

America Movil-controlled Claro has become the first operator to launch HSPA+ operations in Panama. Currently the service is only available in Panama Metro, Colon and along Alberto Motta highway (Corredor Norte), but the company has stated that, by year end, it will reach the country’s provincial capitals and major towns. Cable & Wireless (C&W) and Digicel have also recently announced their intention to introduce HSPA+ in the country; C&W is aiming to launch services in September, while Digicel is investing USD100 million and targeting the last quarter of the year.
