DTAC officially launches 3G services

16 Aug 2011

Thai cellco Digital Total Access Communication (DTAC) has officially launched HSPA services in the 850MHz band. The moves comes a day after the operator reiterated plans to launch despite opposition from concession owner CAT Telecom. DTAC says it will initially upgrade 1,220 base stations to 3G, before increasing the total to 2,000 covering 40 provinces by the end of 2012. The cellco says that as a result of the service launch, faster speeds are being offered at no extra charge to existing subscribers in Bangkok who already subscribe to a data package and have a compatible handset.
