CRC announces tender for UMTS licence

Bulgaria’s Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) has announced that is accepting bids for a further UMTS licence. The 3G licence will allow the use of two 15MHz bands of spectrum in the 2GHz range. The tender would allow the entrance of a fourth operator into a market which is already nearing saturation, with population penetration estimated at 145% by 31 March 2011. The bidding closes on 1 September 2011, and a winner will be announced shortly after.
