Aviat Networks to deliver TFL’s all-IP trunking microwave radios

5 Aug 2011

Telecom Fiji Limited (TFL) has awarded a contract to wireless transmission solutions provider Aviat Networks for the supply of the vendor’s WTM 6000 all-IP trunking microwave radios. In a statement, TFL confirmed that Aviat Networks will design radio paths and install a high-capacity network for the telco to link the main islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Aviat says that with the option to transport STM-1 in hybrid mixed-mode, its WTM 6000 solution is capable of providing high trunking capacity for regional and national backbone links in place of fibre. The new network will have initial capacity of up to 600Mbps, although TFL can increase the number of WTM 6000 wireless links as necessary. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
