AIS’ net profit up 26% to USD205m

Thailand’s largest cellco by subscribers Advanced Info Service (AIS) has posted a 26% year-on-year rise in net profit in the second quarter of 2011 to THB6.1 billion (USD205 million), on revenues that jumped 12.5% to THB23.8 billion. Quarterly EBITDA increased by 11.3% to THB12.6 billion, helped by non-voice revenues, which climbed 29% y-o-y to THB4.7 billion. 533,000 net new subscriber additions in three months gave the operator a total of 32.5 million customers at 30 June 2011, including 7.7 million users of its mobile internet/data services.
