Mobile base topped 52m at end-June, report says

Ukraine’s mobile network operators collectively added a net 400,000 new additions in the three months to 30 June 2011 for a total of 52 million, a cellular penetration rate of 113.8%, according to data published by consultancy firm AC&M. By mid-2011 the leading player in the market was Kyivstar with 24.69 million subscribers, ahead of MTS’s local unit with 18.58 million and third-placed Astelit (life:)) with 6.38 million. A number of smaller players are also operating in the sector including Beeline Ukraine (incl. Golden Telecom), Ukrtelecom, Telesystems of Ukraine (PEOPLEnet), Intertelecom (IT CDMA) and ITC (CDMA Ukraine) / Velton Telecom.
