Revenue increases but operating profit falls for DNA in 2Q11

22 Jul 2011

Alternative Finnish operator DNA has unveiled its financial results for the three months ended 30 June 2011, posting a 9.1% year-on-year increase in net sales. For the telco’s second fiscal quarter of 2011 it reported revenues of EUR181.3 million (USD258.9 million), up from EUR166.2 million in the corresponding period in 2010, while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) for the period was EUR49.9 million, representing 27.5% of net sales. Operating profit, however, fell 27.2% y-o-y- to EUR14.7 million, which DNA CEO Riitta Tiuraniemi said was ‘particularly due to the increase in depreciation.’

At the end of June 2011 DNA’s mobile subscriber base stood at 2.163 million, up 134,000 against the 2.029 million it reported a year earlier, while fixed line voice and broadband accesses totalled 147,000 (down from 182,000) and 292,000 (up from 290,000) respectively.
